Meet Hidden Mickey’s Extraordinaire, Steve Barrett.

Monday, November 9th, 2009

This week on RR&R, we are joined by Hidden Mickey expert and author of The Hidden Mickey’s Guide, Steve Barrett. You will have to join us on Tuesday as he takes us on a Hidden Mickey’s hunt at a resort that just happens to be on the monorail line. We’d tell you which one, but that would spoil all the fun. For those of you who may not have met him before, Shontell took a few minutes prior to one of our tapings to talk with Steve and find out what sparked his passion for Disney, and how the Hidden Mickey’s books came to be. We invite you to watch below.

Be sure to come back tomorrow for a little Hidden Mickey’s huntin’.

Bon Voyage Aboard the Breathless II

Friday, September 4th, 2009

By Shontell Crawford & Eric Hollister

For those of you who truly feel that you have done everything at Walt Disney World, this week’s feature is an indulgence you may have overlooked, but is a must do as far as our team is concerned. Oddly enough, we think you’ll find it surprisingly affordable! If you had an opportunity to view this week’s video, we invited you aboard the Breathless II as we cruised along the boardwalk, over towards Hollywood Studios, and up to the edge of the World Showcase Lagoon. Check it out, if you haven’t already!

The Breathless II (Click for a larger photo)

What makes this particular ride so special begins with the majestic watercraft. This Hacker-Craft design mimics the early twentieth-century vessels and is made almost entirely of mahogany. In fact, what made Hacker-Craft famous during the 1920’s was that it introduced an indented hull design that allowed it to go faster than any of the wooden boats of that era. The only items on the Breathless II that have been updated are the engine and the electronics. We were fortunate enough to capture some extra footage you may want to check out if you have a few minutes as Captain Mike was preparing the boat for our journey. You will find it on the DVC By Resale Facebook Fanpage.

Once you step aboard, it’s Bon Voyage! The video we shared barely does our time aboard justice…it’s one of those “you just had to be there” experiences, but hopefully you’ll get the idea. Possibly the most notable aspect of our ride was the unique perspectives the Breathless II gave us from the water. Everything looks different from the water, so it took the images we are so accustomed to recognizing from the land and changed them into a whole new world of memory pictures for our minds! One of the highlights was approaching the edge of the World Showcase Lagoon. While you won’t go out into the lagoon itself, it does offer you an unobstructed view of most of the countries. Although this particular trip was taken during the day, the Breathless II also leaves the dock in the evenings for a special Illuminations voyage, which we can’t wait to experience in another segment! One of the fun items we wanted to be sure to mention as well – as you approach the World Showcase, keep a sharp eye to your right, as you will see an easel positioned underneath the bridge that connects England and France. In true Disney spirit of paying attention to detail, you will see that the painting is actually the building directly across from the waterway. Be sure to ask the captain to point it out to your crew.

Since we have extra footage of our voyage, we wanted to post this video below for your convenience. It is an extra segment and includes commentary with our guest, Deb Wills. It will show you just how close you get to the World Showcase Lagoon. You’ll even get a glimpse at some of the recreated French artistry we mentioned above. Once you finish, we invite you to look below for extra information about the Breathless II and how you can go about scheduling a trip aboard this magnificent jewel of the Yacht and Beach Club Marina.

Let us know if the Breathless II is, or is about to become, one of your favorite R,R & R spots! Until next time…..

There are numerous attractions and experiences throughout the Walt Disney World Resort that involve water. Whether you’re plunging down the falls of Splash Mountain or floating through the Caribbean with some jolly ole’ pirates, there’s just something about it that can only be described only as “Magical”. After all, this is Disney.

But this week, magical is accompanied with breathless, Breathless II to be exact. Shontell is once again joined by owner and founder of AllEars.net, Deb Wills, as they embark on a wonderful voyage aboard this sleek, wooden boat from an era gone by. Tuesday’s Recess Video

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

This week, Shontell is joined by Lou Mongello, host of The WDW Radio Show, to discuss an evening activity available to guests of the Walt Disney World Resort. Take a stroll outside of Disney’s Beach Club Resort and join us for this segment of R,R,& R. When you’re finished with the video, let us know what you think and leave a comment below. We love hearing from the viewers!

***Important Disclaimer ~ Shontell would like to apologize in advance for the amount of times the word “umm” was used in this video. Yes, she does realize it’s not a word and she blames it on being nervous around the superstar Mr. Mongello! She begs your forgiveness and asks for another chance to avoid the “umm’s” and would like to assure the audience it won’t happen again…she hopes!
